The Ahrar al-Sham group on Monday downed a helicopter carrying regime troops in the mountainous Jabal al-Akrad (Kurds Mountatin) area in Lattakia province, the powerful Islamist faction said in statement.
The helicopter was shot down near the Suffiyat hilltop, while the fate of the aircraft’s crew is still unknown, pro-regime media said.
In turn, Russian warplanes later targeted rebel bastions at the Turkish border with cluster bombs, activists said.
