Northern Syria Factions: Dozens of Russian, Regime Members Killed

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and the National Liberation Front (NLF), both located in the al-Fateh al-Mubin (The Great Conquest) operations room, announced that three Russian officers were killed, in addition to dozens of dead and wounded officers and members of the Syrian regime and Iran, as a result of their bombing of military positions.

Tahrir al-Sham’s military wing spokesperson, Abu Khaled al-Shami, confirmed in a statement via the Tahrir al-Sham Telegram channel, on Tuesday, the killing of two Russian officers in Kafr Nabl, south of Idleb, and the killing of a Russian officer in al-Khadra in Turkmen Mountain, in addition to 21 Russian soldiers, 15 of whom belong to the 25th Division, in Kafr Nabl.

Shami indicated that three Iranian officers were killed in Marj Khokha, in the Lattakia countryside.

In turn, military spokesman for the NLF, Cap. Naji Mustafa, said that ten officers belonging to the regime forces, of various military ranks, were killed in NLF attacks, which wounded more than 40 other members of the Syrian regime’s forces, in addition to the destruction of the Russian Operations Command in Maasran, south of Idleb.

Mustafa pointed out to Enab Baladi that the regime responsed strongly to the targeting of regime military sites and barracks. According to Mustafa, regime bombings have been carrying out since dawn on Tuesday and have destroyed 30 military sites in addition to four military vehicles.

The military factions targeted 37 regime points in various areas in the countryside of Idleb, Hama, Aleppo, and Lattakia.

There was no comment from the regime or the Russian Ministry of Defense at the time of writing.

On Monday, dozens of individuals were killed or wounded from Failaq al-Sham, affiliated with the NLF, as the result of a Russian airstrike that targeted a military base affiliated with Failaq al-Sham in Jabal al-Duwailah, northwest of Idleb, near the Syrian-Turkish border.

At the time, Russian Telegram accounts published aerial shots of the fighters gathered in the camp, and of the targeting. The targeting was preceded by warplanes and Russian reconnaissance, according to Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Idleb.

This is the second time Failaq al-Sham (close with Turkey) has been targeted, since the Russian intervention in Syria alongside the regime, and left a large number of casualties.

On Sept. 23, 2017, 40 Failaq al-Sham members were killed, and others wounded, by a Russian airstrike that targeted one of Failaq al-Sham’s camps in Tel Mardikh, south of Saraqib.
