US Building New Military Base Inside Eastern Syria

The US Army is expanding its presence in Deir ez-Zor with another military base that is being built in Baghouz and will mark their ninth base in the region writes Al-Masdar.

The US Army began building a new military base in the the town of Baghouz in the southeastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

According to the Sputnik News Agency, this base will be its fourth in the governorate, and the ninth in eastern Syria.

A Sputnik correspondent in Hassakeh Governorate quoted local sources in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor as saying that the US Army started a few days ago to establish a military base in the rural region of Baghouz

The sources said that the first step in establishing the base was equipping a helipad in order to secure logistical supplies for the base.

The sources added that on Monday the US Army deployed the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to a number of points around the under construction base, to protect it.

The US Army is already stationed in three bases in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, specifically near the oil and gas fields.
