The Syrian opposition is set to meet on Monday with officials from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara to discuss the recent Turkish-Syrian rapprochement.
A source from the opposition Syrian National Coalition (SNC) was cited by the New Arab website as saying a delegation of SNC is to meet Turkish officials on Monday.
“On Thursday, Turkish officials ascertained that they will guarantee the rights of the Syrian opposition and that rapprochement with Assad will not be at the expense of the Syrian people’s rights,” the source added.

On Dec. 31st, 2022, the SNC demanded holding an emergency meeting with Turkish officials to get clarification and updates regarding the normalization with Syria.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, revealed his country’s readiness to hand over areas under its control to the Syrian if political stability is achieved in Syria.
On Dec. 28th, 2022, Moscow’s, Ankara’s and Damascus’ defence ministers met in the Russian capital Moscow, marking the first announced official meeting between Turkey and Syria since the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that the Syrian crisis, the refugee problem in Turkey and efforts to combat terrorists present on Syrian territory were touched upon during the meeting.
