The Foreign Minister of Oman, Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, told al-Watan that his meeting with President Assad stressed “the authenticity of the relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, which have intimate, historical, civilized relations between the two peoples, and look forward to deepening our common economic, commercial, cultural, heritage and many other fields. ”

Busaidi added: “At the Arab level, there are good efforts being made by many Arab countries at the present time, to reunite, clear the atmosphere, and correct the mistakes of the past. They are taking a more forward-looking view of the relations of joint Arab cooperation, solidarity, and overcoming the past with a promising future, and with optimism towards this future. We hope that these efforts will bear fruit and positive results that serve our peoples, children, and generations now and in the future.”

In response to questions from journalists about the statements of the Secretary-General of the Arab League regarding the lack of consensus on what is required of Syria, the Omani minister said: “We are optimistic through these meetings and dialogues. I am taking the right decision, and that is healing the Arab-Arab relations.”

Meanwhile (according to Athr Press), the U.S. State Department expressed dissatisfaction with the Omani Foreign Minister’s visit to Damascus.
