On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in Syria, Libya, and the Caucasus region with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Russian Commissioner for Children’s Rights, Maria Lvova Belova, announced that she had received nearly 1,000 requests to search for Russian children of ISIS terrorist militants in northern Syria and return them to their families.

During a telephone conversation, the Turkish and Russian Presidents touched on international topics, including well-known proposals for legally establishing formal agreements that guarantee Russia’s security, the situation in the Caucasus, and settlement issues in Syria and Libya, according to Russia Today. 

The Kremlin noted that during the telephone conversation, Putin and Erdogan exchanged new year congratulations, reviewed bilateral relations and developments over the past year, and reaffirmed readiness to increase the mutually beneficial partnership of the Turkish and Russian sides.
