The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has documented at least 569 cases of arbitrary arrests in August, including 362 cases of enforced disappearance.
All warring parties have carried out arbitrary arrests, according to the London-based monitoring group.
269 people were arrested by Syrian regime forces, including nine children and 11 women. Twenty three cases of arbitrary arrests, all men, were recorded at the hands of Hay’at Tahrir al Sham.
The arbitrary arrests included 30 children and 25 women.
The report documents 229 cases of arbitrary arrests by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, including 19 children and 12 women. It also documents 48 cases of arbitrary arrests by the armed opposition, including two children and two women.
At least 3,618 cases of arbitrary arrests have been documented by SNHR since the start of 2019.
Additionly, the report states that in August, at least 146 raids and actions at checkpoints that resulted in cases of deprivation of freedom were documented, most of which were in Aleppo, with regime forces, followed by Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, being responsible for most of the raids, SNHR reported.
Eight years of war in Syria have killed 560,000 people and driven half the pre-war population of 22 million from their homes, including more than 6 million as refugees to neighbouring countries.
