Nazir al-Hakim was elected as Secretary of the Syrian National Coalition's Political Commission in elections that took place on Saturday.
Hakim competed for the post with Riad al-Hassan, who received nine votes against eleven for Hakim, according to Al-Arabiya.
Hakim is a member of both the General Commission and the Political Commission of the Coalition, as well as a member of the Membership Committee and the Committee of Education, in addition to being Director of the Office of Turkey and Chairman of Wheat Committee in the Coalition.
Hakim is also a member in the General Commission, the Secretariat, the Executive Office of the Syrian National Council, and the Chairman of the Local Councils Office. He is also in charge of relations with Turkey.
Hakim is known as an "undisclosed member" of the Muslim Brotherhood, and is the Chairman of the Protection of Civilians Commission, in addition to being a director and board member of several companies.
