Head of the Higher Judicial Committee for Elections (HJCE) Hisham al-Shaar announced on Wednesday the end of candidacy applications for the upcoming parliamentary elections at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2.
The committee affirmed that the candidacy sub-committees will review the legality of applications between March 3 and March 7. It added that any candidate has the right to object to the decision of the committee within three days of the announcement of the names.
In a related context, the committee said the total number of the candidates reached 11,341, distributed as the following: 988 in Damascus, 817 in the Damascus countryside, 1,437 in Aleppo, 1,048 in Aleppo countryside, 386 in Idleb, 1,800 in Homs, 700 in Hama, 1,653 in Lattakia, 634 in Tartous, 311 in Deir-ez-Zor, 546 in Hassakeh, 197 in Raqqa, 321 in Daraa, 263 in Suweida and 240 in Quneitra.
