The Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) on Sunday released 16 women from Deir-ez-Zor after they were detained for nine days in the party’s prisons in Hassakeh’s western countryside.
Ahmad al-Ramadan, head of the Deir-ez-Zor is Being Slaughtered Silently campaign, confirmed to Zaman al-Wasl that the women were arbitrarily arrested by the PYD who only released them on Sunday night.
He added that six of the women were from Deir-ez-Zor’s eastern countryside and had cut through Mount Abdulaziz traveling towards Ras al-Ayn in Hassakeh’s countryside – a common route for people escaping ISIS-controlled areas of Deir-ez-Zor.
