Southern Front rebels thwarted an attack by pro-Assad forces on Busra al-Harir town in the eastern countryside of Daraa province on Monday, inflicting heavy losses, activists said.
Assad's forces and allied Shiite militias carried out a surprise attack on the eastern countryside of Daraa to recapture territory seized by rebels a few weeks ago.
Rebels killed dozens of fighters and destroyed seven tanks, activists said.
