President Bashar al-Assad passed a law on Sunday extending an amnesty decree for gunmen to turn themselves over to authorities until the end of June.
According to the decree, individuals taking part in hostilities towards the Syrian state will be able to surrender themselves and their weapons to law enforcement agencies.
The initial decree, which was issued in July last year, was effective for three months and prolonged for the same period. The decree will also cover kidnappers who agree to release their detainees.
