Syrian Army Announces Liberation of Abu al-Duhur Air Base

The Syrian army’s general command on Sunday said that it had established control over the Abu al-Duhur air base in addition to 300 villages and towns extending through the countrysides of Hama, Idleb and Aleppo, after eliminating the last remaining terrorists in the area.

The general command said that the army and allied forces established control over the strategic military air base in the southeastern countryside of Idleb province following a series of successful operations.

It added that engineering units are currently dismantling landmines and explosives planted by the terrorists.

The liberation of the air base led to the encirclement of Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists in the area between Khanasser, Abu al-Duhour, Al-Saan and Al-Hamra, while also securing Khanasser road and another main road between Hama and Aleppo, the general command said.

It added that the military operations carried out by the army units directed a devastating blow to the terrorists and their supporters.

Abu al-Duhur is located between the provinces of Aleppo, Hama and Idleb and is the second largest military base in the northern region.
