Activists in the western countryside of Homs said that regime troops and Shabiha (thugs) from the National Defense Force shelled a church in the town of Al-Husn near the Krak des Chebvalier castle, leading to the destruction of parts of the building.
A reporter for the General Commission of Syrian Revolution said that the main hall of the church, named Harat al-Thurayia, was destroyed as a result of frequent targeting from the villages of Wadi an-Nasara and the As-Sayih mountain near the castle.
Activists uploaded videos on the Internet showing the destruction of the church due to shelling, with the windows and chairs broken in the main hall, in addition to damage to the external walls of the church.
