SDC calls on Damascus to take Turkey out of Syria

An official of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) on Saturday called on the Syrian government to defend Syrian sovereignty and take Turkey out of Syria.

Amal Dada, member of the Relations Office of the SDC, said that Turkey’s control of Syrian land is an “occupation” and that they are working diplomatically and politically to hide this fact with the international community.

Dada told North Press that violations, displacement, and demographic change carried out by Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), caused a real threat to the security and peace in Syria.

The SDC is the political wing of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES). It was founded in 2015 and includes all the communities of north and east Syria.

The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hassakeh and Deir ez-Zor after the SDF defeated ISIS militarily there.

Dada called on the Syrian government to defend its sovereignty and prevent Turkey from taking additional Syrian lands.

She added that the SDC is working to form a “broad Syrian democratic front”, to counter Turkey’s aggression and its ongoing attacks.

The SDC official called on Syrian politicians to overcome conflicts to counter Turkey’s repeated attacks.
