Regime Fails to Storm Busra al-Harir

Violent clashes between regime forces and fighters of the Syrian opposition continue in the vicinity of the town of Busra al-Harir, Daraa’s countryside, in an attempt to storm the town, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The Observatory said the clashes were accompanied by regime bombardment on areas in the town, leading to the death of three fighters from Islamist battalions, while casualties among regime forces and pro-regime militias have also been reported.

The Syria Mubasher Network reported that the armed opposition forces managed to destroy a number of regime vehicles at the entrance to the city of Busra al-Harir in the countryside of Daraa.

The Network said: "Rebel brigades destroyed five tanks and a BMP military vehicle, in addition to killing their crews, as part of the ongoing clashes since the early hours of Monday morning".

The Network added that "clashes continue with heavy and medium weapons in the vicinity of the town, as part of a military campaign initiated by regime's army in order to restore the support line between the city of Izraa and regime-held areas in the countryside of Daraa and the city of Suweida".

"Air strikes from regime warplanes and explosive barrels dropped from its helicopters have targeted the towns of Busra al-Harir, al-Nuaimah and the villages of Lajat area in the eastern countryside of Daraa", the Network concluded.
