Syrian rebels have quashed a rebellion by prisoners in Idleb province against death verdicts set by the Shariah Authority, with no casualties reported, activists said.
The Islamic Authority, which runs judiciary and prosecution affairs in rebel-held areas since taking control of civil courts in 2012, has faced unexpected rebellion by prisoners who rejected the latest verdicts issued against them.
The authority, in a statement posted online, said the "situation is under control", after support from fighters of Ahrar al-Sham Movement and Suqour al-Sham.
The prisoners had been transferred to another jail, the statement said.
