A senior commander in the 25th Special Missions Division, led by Brigadier General Suhail al-Hassan, was killed in mysterious circumstances in rural Hama.
The Facebook page of the Tiger Forces – Information Branch reported that “the commander of the Shaheen forces in the 25th Division, Yusuf Shaheen, was most likely killed by an explosive device placed in front of his house by unknown assailants.”
On Wednesday, pro-regime platforms reported that an explosion occurred at the home of Shaheen in his hometown of Masyaf, one of the most prominent commanders of the Russian-backed 25th Division.
The 25th Division is one of the most prominent military formations in Syria. It is led by Brigadier General Suhail al-Hassan, who trained the Tiger Forces in 2015 before becoming the 25th Special Mission Division in August 2019.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, hundreds of fighters in the 25th Division were transferred to Russia to participate in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
