Health Ministry: 692 confirmed infections, 40 fatalities due to Cholera

The spread of cholera is accelerating in Syria with the north and northeast most affected, SANA reports

The Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that the total number of confirmed cases of cholera was now 692 including 435 in Aleppo, 119 in Deir Ezzor, 52 in Hassakeh, 28 in Raqqa, 22 in Lattakia, 11 in Suweida, 8 in Damascus, 7 in Hama, 6 in Homs, 3 in Daraa and 1 in Quneitra.

The total number of fatalities caused by cholera reached 40, among them 34 in Aleppo, 3 in Hassakeh, 2 in Deir Ezzor and 1 in Damascus, as a result of the delay in seeking medical advice and the presence of accompanying chronic diseases.

The Ministry called on citizens to follow public health measures and behaviors such as washing hands, drinking water from a safe source, and washing fruits and vegetables well.
