First Meeting of Expanded Body of Committee to Discuss the Constitution Starts in Geneva

The UN Special Envoy to Syria held the first meetings to discuss the constitution with delegations from the Syrian government and other groups writes SANA.

On Thursday, the first meeting of the expanded body of the committee to discuss the constitution started at the UN headquarters in Geneva, with the participation of the delegation supported by the Syrian Government and the other delegations.

SANA’s correspondent to Geneva said that the meeting today is a closed meeting as the three delegations are participating in it in the presence of UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen, who said on Wednesday that starting of the work of the committee represents an important step on the road to finding a sustainable political solution to the crisis in Syria, affirming that the constitution is owned by the Syrian people alone. 

The committee to discuss the constitution comprises 150 members who represent the delegation which is supported by the Syrian Government, the delegation of other parties and the delegation of the civil society, with each of them comprising of 50 members.
