Maan (Together) Movement, a civil society group, called for the release of all political prisoners from the Syrian prisons and detention centers.

The Group particularly focused on recent campaigns waged by the government to arrest activists from the Syrian Communist Action Party.

In a statement, a copy of which was obtained by the Syrian Observer,  Maan condemned the arbitrary arrest of the Party from the Province of Tartous and charging them at the newly established Terror Combating Court.

Most of the arrested activists are Alawite from Tartous. Observers say that the regime does not tolerate Alwite dissidents as it alter the image it tries to give to the revolution as a Sunni rebellion against the “secular regime.”

Maan called the authorities to release all the political prisoners and held them responsible for their well being.

Maan is an opposition civil society movement that is based basically in Latakia and Tartous, tow heavily Alwaite populated provinces. The movement comprises a number of small leftis groups and former communist activists.
