Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Faisal Mekdad said Syria readiness to find a solution to the issue of Egyptian citizens who have become involved in events in Syria.
Mekdad was speaking on Monday during a meeting with an Egyptian media delegation in Damascus.
He said he welcomed efforts by the Egyptian media and civil society organizations to help explain the true nature of events in Syria to the Egyptian public and put an end to the anti-Syrian media campaign and fabrications by some parties to encourage misguided Egyptians to join armed terrorist groups in Syria.
The Egyptian journalists said they were keen to help preserve Syria’s sovereignty and independence. They voiced solidarity with the Syrian people in confronting the terrorist campaign launched with the help of some western countries and their Arab agents, against them.
Members of the delegation condemned the Arab League’s suspicious role in the conspiracy against Syria, and said they were determined to reveal the Western and Israeli-backed plot against Syria and the whole Arab Nation. They said this kind of aggression aims at weakening the Arab Nation and undermining its sovereignty and independence.
