An exchange agent in Damascus has told al-Iqtissadi that American dollars marked with Iranian seals have been circulating in the black market.
The dollars are stamped with phrase 'Ya Zahraa' – a sacred Shiite slogan glorifying the daughter of the Prophet Mohammad and wife of Ali bin Abi Talib.
Some believe the dollars were distributed in market through the financial aid provided by Iran to Syria, while others say the source of the dollars can be traced to the Shiite pilgrims still visiting Syria.
