The Revolution Military Council in the western countryside of Homs and the Union of Homs Quarters has offered condolences to the relatives of the civilian victims, killed Friday during the clashes following the rebel storming of National Defense Army checkpoints. The message read as below:
The Revolution Military Council in the western countryside of Homs and the Union of Homs Quarters offers condolences to the relatives of the civilian victims who were killed last Friday during the clashes during the storming of National Defense Army checkpoints in Wadi al-Nasara (Valley of the Christians) in Homs.
The operation could not have been avoided as the activities of the criminal checkpoints, from which many of our brothers and sons have been killed, had to be stopped.
Ensuring the safety and security of civilians in the implementation of any operation is a priority for the rebels; many operations that were canceled due to the risk of civilian casualties.
At the time we warned our fighters against hurting any civilians, while those criminals fired randomly at anything that moved in the battle area, killing innocent victims of hatred, cowardice and treachery. These criminals are professional at terrorizing innocent people and targeting human beings.
The blood of any civilian Syrian is dear to us, as well the tears of mothers who lost their sons; mothers who dreamed of seeing their sons or daughters participating in the building of a modern Syria instead of dying in the hell of Assad's war against his people.
The Revolution Military Council in the western countryside of Homs and the Union of Homs Quarters underlines the strong links between various components of Syrian society and the sanctity of Syrian blood.
The sons of Homs from different sects are working together to rid Syria of this criminal regime which daily kills innocent civilians, with the help of treacherous militias hired from all sects under the name of the National Defense Army.
This regime is hoping to stay in his power even if it has to burn the country and turning it into hell for the people demanding their legitimate rights.
We call on our people in the Wadi al-Nasara and the Mahatta quarters and all Christians in Homs to beware of agents of the regime who are attempting to weaken the trust between them and the Free Syrian Army – which includes a lot of Christians in its ranks. The regime is spreading false rumors and presenting these incidents as targeted attack directed against Christians in Homs in order to involve them in their dirty sectarian war against the nation, which was formed from various sects and presents the real guarantee for security.
We also ask Christians to expel regime thugs from their regions, and to avoid regime centers and their militias, which are legitimate targets for attacks at any time.
