Regime Excluded Deir El-Zor from Polio Vaccinations

2.5 million vaccinations were delivered by the Syrian Working Group to Fight Polio

The opposition Coordination Support Unit has issued a new report about polio in Syria saying that 71 cases have now been recorded, most in Deir El-Zor.

There were 55 cases reported in Deir Al-Zor, nine in Idleb, four in Aleppo and one in Hama, Raqqa and Hasakkeh.

Reuters recently revealed that government excluded Deir El-Zor from the vaccination campaign in 2012, and this explains the high number of cases in the governorate.

2.5 million vaccinations were delivered on Saturday by the Syrian Working Group to Fight Polio. The vaccinations are sent by the Turkish government to the liberated areas in the north of the country, according to the Syrian Aid and Medical Union.
