The Baath Party is set to increase the number of Baath members at Damascus checkpoints, according to Damas Post website, reporting from a source close to the party.
The source said that Baath battalions are deployed at security checkpoints in Damascus, Aleppo, Tartus and Latakia.
“The operation comes in the context of supporting the army and the security branches at checkpoints to ease their operations at the front lines,” the source said.
The website reported that the party members will man checkpoints, in addition to some light logistic operations, but that field developments in Damascus may lead to the expansion of their role.
