President Bashar Assad on Wednesday received the Chairman for Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council, Alaeddin Boroujerdi and an accompanying delegation.
Assad said that cooperation among countries of the region is key to confronting extremism and terrorism, confirming the importance of coordination among parliaments of friendly countries and the need for more pressure to stop all forms of support offered by some states to the terrorist groups and extremist powers.
The president expressed Syrian people's appreciation for Iran's support for Syria at all levels, in the interests of the two friendly countries. He said the victory of the Iranian people on the nuclear file will be positively reflected on all people and that the sovereignty and independence of their decision will be adhered to.
Boroujerdi reiterated Iran's firm stance in support of Syria's struggle, describing it as the first trench of resistance, and saying that the success of the Syrian people in the face of the most arrogant colonial powers and their tools in the region will form a juncture not only in Syria's history but in the future of the whole region.
Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi discussed with Boroujerdi bilateral economic and trade relations and activating the credit line between both countries.
