Mufti Hassoun Awarded Ducci Foundation 2014 Peace Award in Rome

Hassoun said Syria is facing a terrorist assault

Syria's Grand Mufti Ahmad Badreddine Hassoun was awarded the Ducci Foundation 2014 Peace Awards in the Italian capital, Rome, on Tuesday.

Archbishop of Jerusalem in exile Hilarion Capucci received the Peace Awards on behalf of Mufti Hassoun upon the latter's request, in solidarity with the national unity of Syria.

Speaking via Skype during the awarding ceremony, Hassoun said Syria, a country of peace and religious co-existence, is facing a terrorist assault and an international war is being waged against it.

A huge crowd of Syrians in Italy and a number of Muslim and Christian clergymen attended the ceremony, in addition to Italian diplomats, politicians and journalists.
