Jihadists sell Syrian Oil to Iraqi Businessmen

Trucks reportedly travelled to Deir El-Zor's oil fields from Iraq

The jihadist Islamic State is selling oil and liquid gas extracted from fields under its control in Syria to Iraqi businessmen across the border, according to a Syrian rights group.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that "trucks with Iraqi numberplates have in the past few days travelled to Deir El-Zor's oil fields from Iraq, to fill up and transport oil towards western Iraq.”

“These trucks belong to Iraqi businessmen who came (to Syria) to buy oil from fields under IS control,” theObservatory added.
