Syria Says Welcomes Security Council Resolution on Combating Terrorism

Mikdad says anyone who attacks the Syrian state, bombs civilians in their houses and in markets is a terrorist

Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Faisal Mikdad said that Syria welcomes the U.N. Security Council resolution No.2170 and affirmed a willingness to cooperate and coordinate with the International Community to combat terrorism.

“Syria asserts once again its firm stance that any military operation on the Syrian territories without cooperation with the Syrian government, which represents sovereignty, is considered as aggression. Syria also went further than this in confirming that it will be in the core of any coalition to combat the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Sham (ISIS) and the Nusra Front,” Mikdad said in an article published by Lebanese al-Binaa newspaper on Saturday.

Mikdad added that Syria, since the outbreak of events, has stressed that anyone who attacks the Syrian state, bombs civilians in their houses and in the markets is a terrorist who should be combated according to the national and international law.

Mikdad said that Syria, who has carried on this war alone for more three years, will be satisfied to see an increasing international understanding to the terrorist war on Syria and Iraq.
