Haidar: Reconciliation Efforts Should Target Adra Next

Haidar calls for a joint action plan between the State Ministry and the ICRC

State Minister for National Reconciliation Affairs Ali Haidar met with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission in Syria Boris Michel to discuss cooperation on the issue of missing and abducted people and providing psychological, social, and financial support to their families.

Haidar stressed that reconciliation is essential to resolving the crisis in Syria, calling for a joint action plan between the State Ministry and the ICRC to support local reconciliations. He said the next areas that reconciliation efforts should target are Adra, Adra al-Balad, al-Dukhaniye, and part of Jobar.

In a statement to SANA after the meeting, Haidar said that the State Ministry proposed a number of ideas to the ICRC on the work that the organization can carry out in Syria.

He also dismissed the U.S. airstrikes against the Islamic State in Syria as attempts to replace one form of terrorism with another, and asserted that Turkey is supporting IS and facilitating the movement of terrorists across its borders with Syria.
