Al-Qaeda Syria’s wing, the Nusra Front, in a statement posted online Tuesday, revealed an imminent prisoner-exchange deal with the regime's army, calling on the detainees’ families to send them full names and arrest dates.
In a brief statement, Nusra said that the priority will be given to old men, women and children, with no further details on when or where the exchange will take place.
The key Islamist rebel group has arranged a number of swap agreements through Qatari and Turkish mediation, including for the nuns of Maaloula and the Lebanese Shiite pilgrims.
Meanwhile, the Front is still holding dozens of Lebanese soldiers as the negotiations appear deadlocked.
