Syrians who have expired passports can extend the date of expiration by the Syrian opposition with the same stickers the regime has, a senior official said.
The good news, carried by the Syrian National Coalition’s Embassy in Doha, will end the suffering of thousands of Syrian expatriates and refugees who oppose Bashar al-Assad and have had difficulties getting their passports renewed by the regime's embassies.
Nizar al-Haraki, Coalition envoy to Qatar, said Syrians can extend the date of expiration by the New Year, reiterating that the step comes as an outcome of fevered efforts made by the Syrian opposition in cooperation with the Qatari state.
The opposition has issued a new travel document which can be used instead of Syrian passports issued by regime.
