Rebels Seize Control of Handarat Village North of Aleppo

Rebels sever regime supply lines after taking strategic village in Aleppo province

Islamist rebels recaptured the strategic village of Handarat in the northern front of Aleppo on Monday, as fierce fighting continues for control of a military base nearby, activists said.

Ahrar al-Sham movement and Al-Qaeda’s Syrian wing, the Nusra Front, backed by other rebel groups, took control of parts of Tal Handarat and al-Madhafa after clashes with Assad forces and Shiite militias three days ago.

Syrian rebels stressed the importance of the Handarat area as a main supply route for Assad forces.
