ISIS-Linked Group Stands Ground Against Nusra Offensive

Shouhada al-Yarmouk Brigades repel attack by Nusra Font, killing 24 fighters

An ISIS-linked group thwarted a Nusra Front assault on a town in southern Syria, killing 24 Nusra fighters, sources told Zaman al-Wasl.

The Shouhada al-Yarmouk Brigade, which pledged allegiance to the ultra-hardline Islamist group, has engaged in fierce fighting with Al-Qaeda's Syria wing and other moderate rebels near the occupied Golan Heights.

Recent fighting between Shouhada al-Yarmouk and Nusra took place the east of Nafa'a town, where fighters were able to repel the Nusra advance and inflict a painful defeat, a source said.

Shouhada al-Yarmouk Brigade appears well equipped and trained, as its fighters have held off against a number of offensives in the past few months.
