Regime Forces Advance West of Palmyra

Regime forces seized several areas near the ISIS-held city of Palmyra in the eastern countryside of Homs yesterday.

"Regime forces seized areas in Thuhour al-Hayial, Wathniat ar-Rajma, Rouwaisat Abu al-Fawares and Beir al-Mazare west of the city of Palmyra, and lie only 10 km away from the city district”, Anatolia news agency reported.

State news agency SANA said: "units of the Syrian army and armed forces have seized several areas surrounding the city of Palmyra, and eliminated ISIS groups located there".

Regime forces are advancing towards the ancient city after recently seizing the region of al-Baiyarat, which lies only 18 km from Palmyra.

Regime aircraft conducted at least 60 air raids on the city and its outskirts, resulting in the death of six civilians and massive destruction throughout the city.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported at least four civilians were killed and over 10 injured when regime forces targeted areas in the city of Palmyra and its surrounding with dozens of rockets.
