Cabinet Meets to Discuss Security of Syria’s Energy Sector

Syria’s Cabinet met on Tuesday to discuss a number of public service and economic issues, including how to limit the effects of recurring terrorist attacks on power and fuel lines, and steps to improve services and drinking water supplied in certain areas.

Chairing the session, Prime Minister Wael al-Halki said that the directives in the speech delivered by President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday would be realized in the government’s work during the coming stage, particularly in terms of combating terrorism and restoring security and stability.

Halki also said that the International Media Conference Against Terrorism, held in Damascus last Friday and Saturday, constitutes a stepping stone towards organized international and regional work to confront terrorism.

The prime minister also called for adopting strict water-saving measures, while also stressing the need to hold arsonists accountable to prevent any damage to Syria’s forests, following wildfires in several areas last week.
