Syrian president expresses his condolences to Russian counterpart following passenger jet crash in Egypt

President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday conveyed his condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding Saturday's Russian passenger plane crash in Sinai, Egypt.

Assad expressed deep sorrow on behalf of himself and the Syrian people, stating “Your Excellency President and friend Vladimir Putin of Russia … with deep sorrow, we have learned the news of the Russian plane crash which was flying from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg and we offer you the deepest feelings of condolences.”
