Assad Meets Injured Soldiers to Celebrate Mother’s Day

President and first lady honor wounded soldiers at event to mark the observance of Mother's Day

President Bashar al-Assad and his wife, Asma, met with a number of injured army personnel and their mothers on the occasion of Mother’s Day, Monday 21.

“The one and only thing that is worth the sacrifices you made, be it your lives, health or bodies, is the safety of the homeland,” said the president during the meeting.

“When the homeland is back safe and sound, I believe every one of you would say ‘I feel my hand is back… my leg, eye, health is back’,” he added.

The president explained, “This, I believe, would be also the feeling of the families of the martyrs, who would feel as if their sons are back once the homeland is back safe and sound.”
