Homs: 4 Civilians Killed in Regime Shelling of Waer

At least four civilians died and others were injured Sunday as regime forces targeted the besieged Waer neighborhood in Homs city. Meanwhile, regime and Russian forces intensified their air raids against different neighborhoods and towns in Aleppo and its countryside.

Mohammed Sibai, a media activist from Waer, told Al-Souria that the neighborhood was targeted by regime positions that surround the neighborhood using artillery shells and high-explosive missiles, resulting in four deaths and 15 injured, including five children and seven women.

Sibai noted: "Regime forces and militias have been imposing a siege against the neighborhood for four months now. They prevent all food and medical supplies from reaching the people inside the neighborhood, which increases their suffering."

In a related context, regime and Russian air forces have upped their air strikes against neighborhoods and towns in Aleppo's northern and southern countryside. Regime helicopters targeted the neighborhoods of Haidaria, Halk, Saliheen, Marji, Sheikh Fares and Sheikh Khoder with explosive barrels. Additionally, the towns of Khan Touman and Al-Eies in the southern countryside of Aleppo were also targeted.

Mohammed al-Shafei, Al-Souria’s reporter in Aleppo, mentioned that seven opposition fighters were killed around Marea after a raid by international coalition air forces that targeted a house close to the fighting between the opposition forces and the Islamic State group.

Shafei added: "The opposition forces were able to prevent ISIS from advancing and controlling points inside Marea,” which has witnessed constant clashes over the past days.
