Russia has distributed a new batch of humanitarian aid among displaced families in a makeshift housing center in Herjalleh town.
Colonel Artyom Kazanov from the Russian coordination center in Hemeimem airbase said in a statement that 2.5 tons of aid consisting of foodstuffs was distributed among the displaced families in Herjalleh as part of local reconciliation efforts in the Damascus countryside.
The coordination center is working to expand the scope of the humanitarian aid and to distribute twice a week in the Damascus countryside, Kazanov added.
For his part, Herjalleh mayor Abdelrahman al-Khateeb said that the Damascus countryside governorate is providing services and humanitarian aid to the displaced people in the makeshift housing center, which houses more than 2,600 people,
He noted that the municipality is working to secure jobs for the displaced people in addition to providing them with meals on a daily basis.
