YPG Evacuates 3 Villages, Forces Mandatory Conscription

Local sources reported that Kurdish militias on Wednesday evacuated citizens from their homes in the villages of Al-Hamra and Al-Awis, southwest of Shadadi, while only a few people remained behind in their houses.

Sources added that the People’s Protection Units (YPG), the armed wing of the Democratic Union party (PYD), warned locals of Bosalman village to leave their homes, the only reason being their proximity to the Kurdish frontline with the Islamic State.

In a related context, the YPG gave notice to all men aged between 18 and 30 in the south-eastern countryside of Hassakeh to join the mandatory conscription and implement the self-defense order. The militia gave the locals from September 6-24 to attend conscription centers, according to activist Ahmed al-Ali.
