Shaaban: Region Will be Confronted With New World As West Enters State of Decline

Bouthaina Shaaban, political and media advisor to President Bashar al-Assad, asserted that events that unfolded in recent weeks have revealed many political and media secrets of Western states.

Participating in the Al-Baath Forum for Dialogue held at Damascus University on Monday, Shaaban said Syria’s steadfastness and the support from its allies have changed regional and international equations.

She pointed out that the recent events on the international arena show the West is in a state of decline and that the next five years will see Europe undergoing changes, adding the Middle East region will be confronted with a new world that requires more thought and effort to implement strategic, political, and media plans.

Shaaban said that Syria’s approach to dealing with the East and West will be marked by tolerance, reconciliation, and cooperation, with an emphasis on respecting the sovereignty of states and the principle of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs.
