Syria Looks to Russia, China to Supply Reconstruction Equipment

Syria stresses need for new machinery to rebuild country, after years of war has inflicted damage on current supply, government media reports

Public Works and Housing Minister Hussein Arnous met with a Russian construction delegation to discuss the supply of vehicles and engineering equipment to help develop Syria’s building projects.

During the meeting with representatives from the Russian GAZ group, Arnous stressed the need for new heavy machinery and transport due to the damages incurred during the war.

The visiting delegation was provided with a list of public works and housing sector needs, outlining vehicles and engineering equipment for the Russian side to review ahead of possible future tenders.

In a relevant context, Arnous also met with a delegation from the China-Arab Exchange Association to discuss prospects for supplying materials in the construction and building sector.

The meeting also touched on the Chinese participation in the Damascus International Fair and the reconstruction exhibition scheduled for September.
