Russian Airstrikes Kill 15 Civilians in Opposition-Held Idleb: Activists

At least 15 civilians including children were killed in Russian airstrikes near the town of Maarat al-Numan in the northern province of Idleb late on Tuesday, local activists said.

The deadly strikes hit the village of Mahershurin east of the city of Idleb with the initial death toll including five children, while 35 others were also wounded.

Last Sunday, six women and four children were also killed when Russian airstrikes targeted the town of Khan Sheikhoun. Most of the victims were related.

This week, the regime army and Iranian-backed militias backed by Russian air power have made gains in north-eastern Syria, stepping up a military campaign against Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham in a push toward its stronghold of Idleb province.
