Syria Intercepts Israeli Missile Attack on Military Position in Damascus Countryside

Media reports have suggested the strike targeted an Iranian-run base west of the capital

Syrian air defenses on Wednesday morning responded to a new Israeli attack on a military position in the Damascus countryside.

The general command of the Syrian army said in a statement that “warplanes of the Israeli enemy on 3:42 a.m. on Wednesday fired several missiles from inside the Lebanese territories on one of our military positions in the Damascus countryside, and the air defense intercepted the missiles and destroyed most of them.”

The statement added that this outrageous aggression is part of the desperate and repeated attempts to raise the morale of terrorist groups which are collapsing in all areas, and to encourage these terrorists — the tools of the Israeli enemy — to continue their attacks against civilians, particularly in Damascus and its countryside.

The command announced Syria’s readiness to confront and foil any attack and to continue the war against terrorism until it is eliminated and security and stability is restored to all the Syrian territories. It also held Israel fully responsible for the dangerous repercussions of its repeated and uncalculated hostile adventures.
