The European Commission President José Manuel Barroso has said the U.N. plays an essential role in international decision-making, and stressed the need to work for a sustainable political solution in Syria.
"The EU is working with the international community to make the appropriate decisions before the U.S. rushes into any unilateral decision outside the U.S. Security Council and without its international allies," Barroso told the Austrian 'Profil' weekly magazine.
Barroso urged the international team investigating alleged chemical weapons use in Syria to submit its report before any decision is made about the crisis in Syria, warning of the deterioration of humanitarian conditions in the event of a military action.
