Syria: Israel Still Defies International Community

Syria’s permanent envoy to the U.N. in Geneva, Hussam al-Din Ala said Tuesday Israel still defies the international community, dealing recklessly with the U.N. resolutions, despite the U.N.'s persistent calls on Israel to end its occupation of the Syrian Golan and the Palestinian lands since 1967, including Jerusalem, stop its settlement polices and its aggressive practices against civilians under occupation.

“Israel makes use of the support offered by a number of U.N. members states, therefore, it goes on perpetrating violations of human rights in the occupied Arab lands and violating international human rights laws, starting from the right of life, education, work and health, reaching to the right of sovereignty on natural resources,” Ala said, reciting a Syrian statement at a session under the 7th item on the U.N. Human Rights Council.

He said Israel’s greed and ambition has not stopped at the limit of consolidating its occupation of the Syrian Arab Golan, but moved today to encourage and facilitate the flow of the terrorist organizations, including the Nusra Front into the Disengagement Zone and attack members of the UNDOF, seeking to evacuate the region from the peace-keeping forces.
