The Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic reiterated that the relations between Syria and Iran are strategic and distinct, stressing the need to pay attention to various relations areas, especially in the cultural dimensions and cooperation in the feminist field between the two countries. 

Shaaban –who represented Asma al-Assad– met with the wife of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Jamila Sadat Alam al-Huda. They discussed bilateral relations and issues related to women, their values, rights, identity, and ways to enhance their leading role in building society.

Shaaban pointed to the importance of joint cooperation in the field of women’s issues at the national and regional levels through cooperation mechanisms and targeted work programs, like the first international conference of active women, which concluded its work on Friday. She announced Syria’s support for establishing the Global Union of Influential Women and said: “Our participation in a high-level delegation of Syrian women in this conference reflects the extent to which First Lady Asma al-Assad pays attention to women’s issues and Syrian-Iranian strategic relations.” 

Shaaban pointed to the interest of the Syrian state, President Assad, and the First Lady in the issue of women and their participation in all aspects of public, political, economic, social, cultural, and development life and national plans. She stressed the steadfastness of Syrian women and their successes in various fields.
