On Saturday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) mourned the death of the SDF’s deputy commander and three fighters in the eastern Syrian city of Hasakeh due to a Turkish air strike.

According to SDF official channels, a Turkish fighter plane targeted a car of the SDF forces on the Qamishli road north of the city of Hassakeh. The strike killed Sola Yasuk, who served as SDF’s deputy commander, along with three fighters — Jian Tolhaldan from the city of Afrin in Aleppo countryside, Rouj Khabour from the city of Derbasiya in rural Hassakeh, and Abrin Buttan from Aleppo city.

For its part, the U.S. Central Command expressed condolences to SDF in connection with Yasouk’s death and the three soldiers in Qamishli. It stressed that Yasuk is one of the most important leaders who fought against ISIS along with the international coalition forces.

Regime losses with Turkish shelling in Hassakeh

Meanwhile, several regime forces members were killed by a Syrian National Army rocket attack on regime positions in the eastern Syrian governorate of Hassakeh on Sunday morning.

According to multiple sources, “opposition factions operating in the Syrian National Army targeted several rocket-propelled grenades against regime forces near the town of Abu Racine, east of Ras al-Ain city in the Hassakeh countryside. The attack killed four members of the regime forces and injured several others.”

The Hawar news agency, which is close to SDF, said that the Turkish army shelled the center of the Zarkan district north of  Hasakeh and its northern countryside with artillery and rocket-propelled grenades, killing a member of the regime’s forces.

A few days ago, a Turkish fighter plane, possibly “Bayrakdar”, targeted a regime military post in the town of Tal Rifaat, north of Aleppo. The attack injured a lieutenant and another officer, who was taken to Tel Rifaat hospital for medical treatment.

It is noteworthy that the areas of Ain Issa and Ras al-Ain are experiencing tensions and mutual attacks between the Syrian National Army and SDF.
